Is my house suitable for a photovoltaic system?
Any roof surface that is not obstructed from the sun the whole year round and that does not deviate too much from the south is ideally suited for photovoltaic systems. Even roof surfaces pointing east or west can be used for the generation of solar power, but losses due to the roof direction must be accepted.
The overall condition of the roof must be taken into consideration in addition to the direction. If the roof has fallen into a "state of disrepair“, renewing it first is recommended. It makes little sense to install a PV system on a roof that may need to be relaid new in 5 years. When installing a new roof, or renewing, it is worth also mounting the substructure (roof hooks) on which the remaining photovoltaic system is fitted.

It is also very important that neighbouring buildings and trees does not prevent sunlight from falling onto the surfaces earmarked for use (do not forget chimneys and dormer windows). Blocking out the sun to even small parts of the photovoltaic system results in considerable losses of yield (up to 90%).
